An Ode to Books: A Poem

An Ode to Books: A Poem
Oh books, sweet books,
What would I do without you?
You light up my world --
Bring color to the days of my life.

Your vibrant colors
Found in one side of my bookcase,
And your faded antique prints
On the other.
Tiny print in an insanely large book
Large print in a secondhand edition

I hear the rustling pages -- oh I can just imagine it!
I smell the indescribable smell
Of old books, a
Compound of glue and paper.
I hear soft piano floating through the air,
Accompanied by a cup of tea
To compliment you.

Every week, I read a book
That makes me cry
Or makes me laugh
Or brings a smile to my face.
I tell everyone about the story for
Weeks,
And weeks,
And weeks
Until I find another one.

I remember reading
The Harry Potter series
With my mom.
One book each summer,
Completing the last one the summer before sixth grade.
A tradition
That sticks with me.

Books, oh books,
Never leave me.
