Reading Challenge Post

Hi everybody! Happy Saturday! If you’re like me, you’ve been looking forward to this day all week! I hope you guys all had a good week. I know I did!

Goodreads has a yearly reading challenge every year, and the challenge can vary personally every single year. For example, in 2024 (my first Goodreads reading challenge) I read 831? Books. In 2025, according to Goodreads, I read 2?? Books because I didn’t track them as well. This year, I am aiming for 500 books. If you saw the video posted today, you would have seen that I am a student athlete. Swim takes up a lot of my life and I want to set a healthy goal.

Which leads me to today’s post! I want to encourage all of you to join the Reading Challenge and set a goal. It doesn’t matter what your goal is, but of course pick something comfortable for you. You could even set challenges outside of Goodreads. Maybe you want to read 5 fantasy books this year, a genre you don’t normally read. You could adapt from your reading stats from last year. If you want to read less romance, say you will read 3 less romance novels. However, I encourage positive goals.

Make sure you track your goal well. As well, make sure you CAN track your goal well. In 2025, I was planning on tracking all my books just as I tracked in 2024. However, life got busy and at the time, my current organizational system wasn’t working. Now, I feel confident I can track it with my Goodreads app.

One complaint I have about the Goodreads Reading Challenge is that it will tell you “read 1 more book to get on track, you are behind!”. I don’t mind the ones saying that you are on track, but it can be really frustrating for me to get on track because I might read a longer book and then a short one, which isn’t what Goodreads predicted. Don’t let that discourage you! Of course, keep an eye on the number and notice if you get behind and adjust as necessary.

In summary, I encourage everyone to join the Reading Challenge and set a goal! Comment what goal you set and keep reading!

xoxo,

Emma
