How I Read In The Busy
Many people have wondered, how do you find the time to read in the busyness of your life? I was a high school athlete for a season, and still found time to read, update my blog, and request books. I was able to do this for three reasons.
1. Reading is a priority to me so I found time for it
When something isn't important to you, you procrastinate it, don't want to do it, and end up doing it at the last minute, if you do at all. It isn't normally a good job either. Because I wanted to read and I wanted to do it well, I made time for it. In the ten minutes to early morning practice, I would read on my Kindle. In the half hour of time I had inbetween school and a meet, I would work on reviews for my blog or read eARCs. On the bus in the morning for a half hour, I would read on my *you guessed it* Kindle.
2. I knew it didn't need to be perfect
Nowadays, reading is super *aesthetic* with annotating pens, cozy set-ups and perfect reading glasses and messy buns. Now, I'm not saying any of that is wrong, but it doesn't always need to be like that. Sometimes, you just need to read. Even if it wasn't for a long amount of time, and it was just ten minutes here, fifteen minutes there, it was omay. It was quality reading time. It mattered.
3. I kept it interesting (while keeping it cheap)
Don't get me wrong, I love rereading old favorites and classics I love. but sometimes all you need is something new. To get this something new, I paid little to no money. Yes, I was still buying books from bookstores, but I was also checking out books from my local library, borrowing books on the elibrary my library offers and borrowing books from others.
In summary, if you want to have time to read even in a busy season, you have to make it a priority, know that it doesn't need to be perfect, and keep it interesting. Comment some of your tips to read in the busy, along with some of your favorite books!
