Thank you to Girl's Life for the copy!
(The more stars the worse the frequency)⭐⭐ - language, the f-bomb a couple times
⭐⭐- spice, the starting plot involves a romantic reference
13+ this is a pretty clean book with a cute romance
I absolutely loved this book. The characters were real and relatable. The romance felt so real and I was so excited for it to finally become real (when the characters would actually admit their feelings). The romance was written in a way that drives the reader nuts - a spark of romance, then nothing, then a bigger spark, then nothing and so forth until it is finally fulfilled!!
So obviously, Syd breaks up a bunch of people with brownies, and then the people have to be brought back together. One thing I like about that is that each couple had challenges. It wasn't a "one cake fits all". One couple needed scones or cake or the food got stolen and it kept the story interesting and moving. But whenever Syd was baking, the description of the baking process was very intricate and detailed (which was really cool) but it made me SO hungry! So props for the realistic food. This isn't one of those books where it takes FOREVER to get to the plot, which I really appreciate. The little recipes in every chapter are really detailed and sometimes have food ingredients and sometimes not, making them really fun to read. The recipes help break up the chapters as well. I also really liked the length of the chapters. They were longer than most chapters in books but it felt like the perfect length.
In summary, this book is amazing and perfect for anyone who loves to bake, relates to these characters, or just wants a feel good romance.
One warning however, do not read on an empty stomach!
