This book is forever one of my favorite books.
Plot:
The book starts out with a girl named Candace who is part of a Korean family and feels like her family doesn’t let her pursue her passions. She has been playing an instrument for years and hates it, while her brother gets to be in choir. She loves to sing and plays guitar as well. When her friends see an ad for a K-pop girl group audition by where they live, they convince her to try out. She gets in and convinces her parents to let her go. However, when she gets there she sees that the work has just begun. When faced with mean girls, excruciating workouts, and high expectations, how will she stay true to herself?
Thoughts:
This book is so detailed when it comes to the training for the k-pop group, which honestly just makes me want to be part of one. Candace’s friends, Imani and Ethan, are so fun and I want to be friends with them. The book also includes definitions of popular k-pop terms, which definitely helped me as a newbie to k-pop. I love all the characters (well, almost all iykyk) and think the story has so much depth. there is a little side romance, which is very cute and fun to read. I recommend this for anyone who likes KATSEYE, k-pop, powerful girl characters, or just a good story!
