ahhhhhh 100% lived up to my excitement. ann liang is one of my all-time FAVORITE authors.
I Am Not Jessica Chen takes you on an adventure unlike any other Ann Liang books. Most of her other books are "cute romance" but this one is fantasy-ish (I guess), a teensy bit romance, a really cool school, and a lot of self-discovery
Plot:
Jenna Chen has wanted to go to Harvard more than anything else in her life. When she gets rejected, it feels like everything she has worked for has come crashing down. Meanwhile, her perfect cousin, Jessica Chen, got into Harvard, as well as every school on her list. Jenna wishes one night, "I wish I was Jessica Chen". The next day, she is. As Jenna settles into Jessica's life, she realizes no one seems to remember Jenna. Will she ever get her life back?
Thoughts:
I want to go to every Ann Liang school that she ever writes. Just. Yeah. This book really made me look at myself, especially when Jenna reads Jessica's journal and sees her notes to herself on tests. Forget Hermione Granger or Rory Gilmore, study like Jessica Chen (or Sadie Wen iykyk) On one hand, I totally want her drive, but on the other I could never be as consistent as her lol. This is a perfect book to read on the way to school as it mainly takes place at Jenna's school. Don't expect this book to be a cute romance from Ann Liang, expect a deep story that makes you look at yourself.
