⭐️⭐️- language is pretty strong and kind of frequent
⭐️- romance is not very detailed, some making out but not very detailed

This review has been a long time coming. I was so excited to read this book when it came out and even more excited when I got a copy (thank you swim team Secret Santa)! This book had everything I want from a Lynn Painter book. An interesting premise, dimensional characters, high stakes, and an adorable romance!

Dani Collins is moving back to Minnesota after her parent’s divorce. Being back in her childhood town should make her happy, right? However, her grandpa is a cranky man and she has to see her old childhood friend, now enemy, Alec. However, Alec is nothing like he used to be. He is a hockey star, now called Zeus, and is nearly a celebrity in the town. After an awkward encounter, the two find themselves in a fake dating scheme to protect both of their’s reputation. This fake relationship lets them learn more about each other and maybe fall in love.

Fake dating? Sign me up! I love any plot with childhood friends and any book with fake dating, so why not throw them together?

So good. Just. So good. I loved all the little Minnesota facts and references, having family there. The characters felt so real and deep. Each one had so much of a plot behind them, making this book SO intriguing. This will definitely be a winter reread next year, as the vibes are just PERFECT. Probably one of my top Lynn Painter books, if not the top. (Keep an eye out on my blog for a full list). In summary, read this book. It is adorable.
